Eye shadow pigment is a loose form of eye shadow. It's fine powder form allows you to apply color in a more detailed fashion. Pigment has bolder color than compact eye shadows because of its loose form but this also poses the problem of the powder falling onto unwanted areas during the application process. Follow a few tips and your can apply eye shadow pigment more effectively leaving you with professional results.
Instructions
- 1 Prep your eyelids with a base primer. You can find a base primer at most drug stores. A primer will give your eye shadow pigment something to adhere to, allowing the pigment to stay in place. Use the tip of your finger to apply a thin, even layer of primer across the entire surface of your eyelid.
- 2 Prepare your eye brush with pigment. You will need to use a flat and stiff bristled eye brush. Stiff bristles are necessary to sufficiently compact the pigment against the eye brush, to ensure no powder falls out across unwanted areas. Dip one flat side of your brush into the pigment. Tap your brush over the cap of your pigment to clear away excess powder. Once you have the adequate amount of powder remaining on your brush, press the pigment-covered side of your brush against the eye shadow lid to compact the pigment within the bristles.
- 3 Pat the eye shadow pigment into place. Place the pigment-prepared side of your eye brush onto your eyelid and pat the brush gently to apply color. Unlike conventional compact eye shadows it is best not to swipe the brush. Swiping loosens up the compact you've created of the pigment within your brush. Gently pat the brush across your eyelid and reapply pigment onto your brush in the same fashion as needed.
