Airbrush technology has been used in Hollywood for decades. Ever since the makeup artists of Ben-Hur in 1959 found themselves with thousands of extras in need of a quick Roman tan, airbrushing has continued to be an efficient solution for on-set needs, providing quick and hygienic tanning, fantasy makeup, temporary tattoos, body art, enhancement to prosthetic makeup and conventional makeup. For over 25 years, Temptu has been the brand of choice to fulfill those on-set needs, and its products can be found gracing the faces and bodies of movie stars, supermodels and cultural icons in feature films, television, top Broadway productions, and under the tents at New York Fashion Week.
Temptu offers two types of airbrushes: the traditional airbrush gun where the makeup is measure, mixed and fed through the top cup for application; and the new AIRpod AIRbrush system designed to work with the Temptu AIRpod makeup, which does not require measuring, mixing or even clean up afterwards. It’s easy to use and wastes less makeup. The mixing of colors is achieved by layering directly on the skin.
The new AIRpod makeup uses Temptu’s premiere silicone-based formula, known to be of the highest quality in the market. The unique molecular structure of silicones, with their larger molecules and wider spaces between each molecule, allows for a breathable barrier that won’t clog pores, but sits on top of the skin providing a smooth cover, and yet it rarely feels heavy or occlusive. Once it dries, silicone-based makeup is long-lasting, water-resistant and gives the skin an unparalleled flawless finish. A possible downside is that if a makeup artist is not experienced with silicone-based makeup and makes a mistake, once it dries, it is not easy to blend. However, with this in mind, Temptu has designed the S/B Mixing Medium solution which can reactivate the silicone so that it can, once more, be easily blended.
Temptu is the only professional cosmetic house with three different airbrush makeup formulas. Besides silicone-based makeup, they also carry alcohol-based and water-based products. Dura, their alcohol-based formula, has been used for body art, prosthetics, tattoo coloring and special effects makeup for over 25 years. And Aqua, their water-based formula, is a favorite of on-air talent for its ability to withstand long hours under the studio lights.
And speaking of studios, the Temptu air, their compact and lightweight (under 1.7lbs) airbrush compressor, is not only easy to transport, but its 2-in-1 design for desktop or on-the-go, with a long life rechargeable battery, allows for on-set “last looks” airbrush touch-ups. No need to drag the star back up to the makeup trailer!
As the digital world evolves, so must its makeup. Temptu is always at the vanguard of the makeup industry, constantly developing new products and technology to continue to fulfill beauty and on-set needs.
